A Bundle of Myrrh

Other New Additions

We got a china cabinet! A very grown up lady piece of furniture I’d say and so nice to finally be able to store and display some of my dishes.

I’m especially happy to now be able to display my china which was my Grandmother Mimi’s. She chose this pattern from a catalog in the 1950s and received a few pieces at a time from her mother. It’s quite a treasure to have.

I also got some new bedding this week. Which after months of thinking, looking and headaching and finally giving up I settled on this and I like it and got it all for just over $100!

You’ll notice that we have two comforters. Allow me to complain, I mean explain. Whoever came up with the idea that married couples have to share a bed was obviously not married to Philip W. Hale who has put up an imaginary “forcefield” down the middle of our bed ONLY because I wouldn’t have allowed an actual wall and  also requires an “air pocket” in which to sleep. He crafts his “air pocket” by tightly tucking 80% of our shared blankets under his body leaving very minimal coverage for anyone else in the bed… that would be me.

Over the last year of our blessed union this has increasingly become a slight source of contention* (*knock down full on rivalry). Phil’s solution was to get separate blankets. Which after the before mentioned thinking, looking and headaching I decided to go with two twin size duvets and two twin size sheets sets on our tiny queen size bed. It requires more time to make but since I actually make our bed only once every 2 months I guess this isn’t a huge problem and other than getting bunk beds may just be the best thing for our marriage!

No comment…well…maybe one. I think Phil and Kristina may be long lost siblings. However, you may be interested to know that having individual duvets is the common practice in Finland. In fact, we received a couple of sheet “sets” which included two ~Twin XL duvets and shams. I insinuated that if we didn’t use the same comforter, she may not really love me as much as she professed. Now that we’re old pros at this, though, I am very happy to have my own sheet. Kristina goes into what I like to call “Burrito-mode” in which she wraps herself up like a burrito with only her face (not her whole head) sticking out…if I didn’t have my own sheets and blankets, I would be in ice-cube mode.

That’s hilarious. You made me laugh. (You too Wes.) We don’t even use a flat sheet. There isn’t even one on our bed. One less thing to fight about….ha!

Oh, I forgot to mention how beautiful the china cabinet is, and how lovely the china inside!!!
