Last weekend we had Essie’s birthday party. I have always loved Russian nesting dolls or Matryoshka dolls.
I got my first set of Matryoshka dolls when I was ein little Liebchen in Germany and have been given several more since.
I did some decorating in Esther’s room with them so I thought it would be a fun theme for her birthday.
Phil’s mom sent some very cute decorations to use.
She also made the girls some festive Matryoshka dresses!
The big girls had a lot of fun with some nice Matryoshka Doll coloring pages:
Color By Number Doll
The Littlest Matryoshka Story Dolls
Winter Matryoshka
Line of Dolls
And some day I’d love to get these books for them:
The Magic Nesting Doll
The Littlest Matryoshka
Eshter’s always been a tiny little thing but, uh when your 10 month old brother dwarfs you, you know “tiny” is an understatement! Course, that’s a big ole’ 10 month old!!
For this party I went with Ice Cream again…I know, I’m pregnant, but really I never need that excuse to get my Ice Cream fix. Strawberry Ice Cream Pie mmmm!
She had no idea why she had to wait until the end of this silly song to blow her candle out.
Fun, Simple and SO SWEET!
I love this birthday theme!! When we did a unit on Russia, I bought several of these from etsy and let the kiddos deorate them. They get lots of use and look…interesting :). http://www.etsy.com/listing/63181960/diy-blank-russian-nesting-matryoshka.
Yes! I had seen sets of unpainted dolls for MONTHS at Hobby Lobby and went to get some for the party for each of the babies to decorate but OF COURSE they were nowhere to be found when I went that time…. 🙁 Would have been a “nice” keepsake for Essie.
The blowing out of the candles is so cute!
With those red, round cheeks she could be one of the dolls herself!
such a cutie!
