Flashback Friday

Friday, March 16th, 2012

It’s time for the South By Southwest Festival back in my home town. Every year during this middle part of March I’m reminded of old days past and that culture unique to Austin Texas. Even up here in Nebraska you’ll probably hear something about it.

I read this in this Sunday’s Omaha World Herald;

“When you’re in Austin, Texas, surrounded by people, music, bars, bands, Lone Star beer, tattoo parlors, musicians, burrito stands, rock fans, pizza shops and amazingly, even more bands, I’m not sure it gets any better.

We’re talking about the South by Southwest music festival which begins on Wednesday in Austin. SXSW is a magical time when tens of thousands of people converge in the Texas capital city to see thousands of bands perform in hundreds of venues.”

This used to be “my scene”. The music, bars, bands, Lone Star beer, musicians, burrito stands, rock fans, pizza shops. To think about it now is exhausting and well, just so strange! A completely different world from where I live today.

Back in the Driver’s Seat

Friday, November 4th, 2011

We are back after a new power cord for Aubri’s computer came in the mail today.

Here is Aubri driving the Great White Hope for the first time:

Notice the subtle facial expression after she made it back alive.

Rockin’ the glasses on glasses look.

It took some goading, but she finally drove it.
Though she was scared, it was not that bad—at least not as bad as she thought it would be.

Update

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Well, my teeth all came out without a hitch. I’m home and have been enjoying much time in bed. Happily I can now tell that I still have a face and distinguish between my lip and chin and, joy of joys, swallow again! And I can talk better which unfortunately means I can’t use the bell I have next to my bed to page Phil for my every whim, sigh. Thankfully I’ve been making it through without having to use the Vicatin I got, so not much pain so far just some soarness. Thank you for the prayers and thoughts!

T-Day

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Tomorrow morning I will have all four of my wisdom teeth taken out. I’m hoping for a quick recovery…or at least a few days in bed eating Bon-Bons and chocolate shakes and that Phil and Mom can keep this place together without me!
