Joining the wonderful Emily over at Weak and Loved and sharing my MESSES from this week!
You must read this post she wrote on Messes. It’s one of those, “Uh-huh, ‘Zactly! Oh girl I know.” posts.

Lily fell asleep laying across my lap yesterday afternoon. She’s been a little under the weather lately so I left her while I fiddled on my laptop. Then I felt it. Hot and wet streaming into my lap. She slept on right while she wet all over me and the couch. And I just sat waiting and waiting (is she still going?!) until she was done and then I kept sitting, soaked, but she was taking such a good nap and she needed rest. I needed to change my pants.
Mothering in the trenches! Still not as nitty gritty as the time I napped with Lily and got a very different surprise right in my hand. But no one needs to know about that do they? Sometimes you just have to laugh at the glamor of it all.

During the season of my life, with all these dear ones in the pew with me, going to church isn’t easy. It’s frustrating. And on some occasions it feels like I’ve gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. Wondering what punch are they gonna pull next and do I have enough tricks in my WAY overstuffed diaper bag to pacify the raging bulls!
I can’t really say why I decided it would be okay to take all three babies with us Sunday afternoon to the installation of a new pastor in our circuit. Phil said he could sit with us during most of the service until he went forward for the blessing. I figured we’d do alright. Well…we didn’t do alright.Phil thinks differently but I’ll just give you a quick synopsis of our time in “Reserved” pew #3. That’s in the front of the church, you know, right where everyone can see you?

Some days seems like you can’t catch a break! Literally. All you want to do is sit down for 10 minutes, drink a cup of hot coffee (hot out of the pot, not warmed up in the microwave for the third time) and give the old ears a rest. The little dears say “Not a chance Mama!” and cackle with glee. Some weeks feel like this. I’m having one of these weeks. It’s not ALWAYS impossible to get all three babies down for a nap at once, just most of the time. Moments to myself are truly few and far between.
