With the cooler weather coming I’ve been on a soup making kick. Here’s my Black Bean soup.
And some Tomato Basil soup with homemade Mozzarella Basil biscuits (I had to use the dough). Yum!

We decided to make salsa to use up all tomatoes we are getting now.
A neighbor gave us
jalapeno, Banana, and
anaheim peppers. We supplied tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers. Another resident let us pick cilantro from their garden. Besides the garlic everything was pretty much home grown.
After spicing it up with jalapeno seeds, here is the finished product. It is excellent. By my count we have eaten 2 pounds of chips in the 3 days since we made it. We should make some more in the next day or two.

While I’m waiting for this baby to come I decided to use a head of cabbage the best way I know how, by making my aunt Sylvia’s Cole Slaw, the best I or you will ever have. She sent the “recipe” to me, more a list of ingredients, they don’t really use recipes in the South, and I took the challenge. I will tell you, this slaw was delicious and so so close to hers, I was very proud. This is now a Hale family favorite passed down to generations to come.

I guess she can Billy Boy. We were given some cherries just off the tree the other day. I had to use them quickly. A pie sounded pretty good. I didn’t think we’d eat the whole thing, but there’s only one piece left now! I’m pleased with my first cherry pie.
