Last Sunday we celebrated the Reformation. I gave the babies 2 new books this year which was fun since Lily loves to read and can begin to understand more.

Sts. Monica and Augustine
Friday, August 28th, 2015
The Feast Days of Saints Monica and Augustine of Hippo.
Since August 28th (the Feast day of St. Augustine) is also Gerhardt’s brithday, I decided to combine Augustine’s commemoration with his mother Monica’s and remember them both on the 27th.
We hardly did anything for this day. I’m just getting back into the swing of keeping the church year in our home. It’s been a long while.
We simply read a bit about Augustine from our Treasury of Daily Prayer. I’m not sure most the kids heard anything over Martha and Mercy’s crying but they did make out that Augustine was from Hippo (laugh laugh laugh) and Monica from Africa (Lily all about Africa since that’s where Epypt is). That’s good right? Then Phil and I had a couple beers after the babes were put to bed. Fitting I thought since St. Augustine is the patron saint of brewers.
If I’d given myself more time I might have made Tears of St. Monica shaped sugar cookies for snack time but the day got away from me and I thought I could come up with something better. Lesson: Perfect is the enemy of good. Or something like that.
May our restless hearts learn to rest in Christ.
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” Matt. 11:28-29
The Feast of Pentecost
Sunday, May 24th, 2015
Come Holy Spirit! Blessed feast day to you all! Today we celebrate the birth of the Church and the coming of the Comforter with food and song.
I made a lovely Chubby Dove Chocolate Chip Scone for breakfast.
And had to guard it well.
For lunch: Red and White Spaghetti and Meatballs.
For dessert: Strawberry Pie!
To God the Holy Spirit let us pray
Most of all for faith upon our way
That He may defend us when life is ending
And from exile home we are wending.
Lord, have mercy!
Transcendent Comfort in our every need,
Help us neither scorn nor death to heed
That we may not falter nor courage fail us
When the foe shall taunt and assail us.
Lord, have mercy!
Shine in our hearts, O Spirit, precious light;
Teach us Jesus Christ to know aright
That we may abide in the Lord who bought us,
Till to our true home He has brought us.
Lord, have mercy!

Easter Photo Shoot
Monday, April 6th, 2015
Our traditional Easter photo shoot 2015. No new baby in the pictures this year but still the hardest shoot to get through! Moods and tudes! We got off to a rocky start.
I was about to give up but my neighbor coaxed Ephraim over to our tree with the promise of M&Ms. Still I had to get in the picture to even hope to have him a part of any shots.
Oh well, here’s what we managed to get this year. Too many good photos for one post, so à la Aubri I made a slide show. Enjoy!
