~ Capturing the context of everyday life ~

Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

{Pretty}

Our Lily, 3 going on 13, such the little lady!

I always wonder at the things you don’t have to teach children. How to laugh, how to play. And just where does the desire to where high heels come from? Lily has probably seen me wear them 3 times in her life but I’m seeing that there is something in little girls that seems unavoidable, they want to be big girls! Princesses, Mamas, Ballerinas. The Things They Say

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

We have been reading about David in our Story Bible this month. Here is a conversation I had with Lily this week.

Me: “David wasn’t afraid of Goliath because Jesus was with him.”
Lily: “But we can’t see Jesus.”
Me: “No, not until we go to heaven.”
Lily: “Can we go to heaven now Mama?”
Me: “No, not until Jesus says we can. When we die we can go to heaven.”
Lily: “But we already died.”
Me: “Hm” (I’m thinking “that’s a little creepy”). “When did we die?”
Lily: “We died on the cross.”

Wow, God’s truth from the mouth of babes.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians 2: 20

Lily’s First Fieldtrip

The preschool classes went to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. I still can’t believe she’s old enough to be going to school and now going on field trips! Phil got to chaperone so we got some pictures.

A Good Daddy

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

“Homework” at the kitchen table already! Phil wants to ensure Lily’s valedictorian status this year.

Daddy helps her practice drawing curvy lines. Look at the concentration.

At school she’s been learning how to draw straight, curvy and diagonal lines, how to cut straight lines with scissors and which are her left and right hands.
