July 28th was Lily’s 6th birthday. My first baby was born 6 years ago and 6 seems like such a big age.

Five Years Old!

Today our second baby is 5 years old. Our rowdy cloudy, sunny funny Clara.
It was just the three of us for 10 months. We hardly knew what it was like to have one baby.
Then we were given two. What a blessing.
Yesterday someone told us we are “brave” to have all these children. We’re not brave, but we are blessed. And everyday God reminds us of how little, weak and frail we are. I wouldn’t say I ever feel brave. Anyone who is entrusted with a great treasure probably didn’t suddenly feel brave, but vulnerable, worried and sometimes shamefully, mad, but not brave.
We’ve been given great riches. We’ve accepted them humbly, or not so humbly. Fearfully at times, wondering if God really knows what he’s doing. And here we are. Blessed. And celebrating five years of the gift of Clara.

Birthday season is officially here!
Today we celebrate Phil’s 35th birthday and won’t stop partying until Mercy’s birthday in November. Every month until then is someone will turn a year older.
