Maundy Thursday we keep our traditional feast, each dish symbolizing an event leading up to the crucifixion. After the meal the eldest babies attend service at church. This year I stayed home with the youngest since it was bedtime for some of those.
Good Friday. The babies had school this year, some years they haven’t so it was a quick morning with a hymn video (Stricken Smitten and Afflicted) and some chocolate chip hot cross buns.
Every year I get better at making these. I still haven’t perfected the smooth roll visually but the taste and texture are spot on! Drool.
Friday afternoon Rose and I attended our Tre Ore service and the bigs went to the later Tenebrae service of darkness.
Holy Saturday. For breakfast we made Resurrection Rolls or Empty Tomb Rolls. Yummy and fun.
The marshmallow being Jesus pierced by the soldier, butter for the anointing oil, the spices are cinnamon sugar and finally his body is wrapped in the dough burial cloths.
After He’s placed in the oven tomb He disappears! He is risen! 😄
Per always we colored eggs. This year no one broke an egg and with the Mega pack of Paas I bought there was enough dye no one had to wait for the color they wanted. There was some egg thievery and spills from a certain 2 year old but pretty painless this time.
Blessed Holy Week!
