July 12: A little about our “host.” John Warwick Montgomery is the International Director of the International Academy we attended, but he is also an ordained minister in the LCMS and let’s add a few more interesting facts. He is “considered to be one of the foremost living apologists for classical, biblical Christianity. A renaissance scholar with a flair for controversy, he lives in France, England and the United States. Dr. Montgomery is the author or editor of more than fifty books in five languages. He holds ten earned degrees, including a Master of Philosophy in Law from the University of Essex, England, a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago a Doctorate of the University in Protestant Theology from the University of Strasbourg, France, and the higher doctorate in law (LL.D.) from the University of Cardiff, Wales. He is an ordained Lutheran clergyman, an English barrister, an avocet au Barreau de Paris, France, and is admitted to practice as a lawyer before the Supreme Court of the United States.” MmmKay?
Wednesday a group of the attendees we’re invited to his apartment in Strasbourg for tasting more amazing wines of the Alsace. In between sips of his favorite Alsatian wines he sprinkled stories from his life, like his interaction with Anwar Sadat former president of Egypt.
Craig Parton really gets in to Alsatian wine. That glass!
We had several meals as a group. Here we were eating flammekueche (Alsatian pizza) and drinking wine down in a cave with John Warwick Montgomery.
JWM was so taken with Rose during the time we were there. He went out and bought a cute little bib as a gift for her. So cute.
