The season of Lent began on March 6th. Here we are at the end of the season just about to enter Easter and finally a blog post on it. I had pretty low expectations for how we would observe the season in our home this year and I met those low expectations spectacularly.
We started off with a bang observing Shrove Tuesday with our tradition of easy peasy beignets.
We hit Ash Wednesday just barely with some dirty snacks and of course the evening service which I only managed to sit through for about 15 minutes before I left. 4:30 in the afternoon is a hard time for littles and for mamas after a long day with littles.
After Ash Wednesday we muddled through the rest of our MidWeek church services and I remembered this year to take out our Resurrection Eggs to countdown the last 12 days of Lent to Easter Sunday. That was about the extent of our observances. And that’s just fine.
Holy week will bring more to do and I plan to keep those days with some of our traditions.
