“Here’s to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.” – Author Unknown
We bid farewell to 2010 last night. It’s been a year of blessings and challenges. Many cherished memories and some we’d rather forget. Like the worst January of my life and an emergency room visit for Phil after a beer bottle exploded in his hand! Here are some of the memories we hope to hold.
Each season has brought so many new experiences for our family. January gave us the girls’ first snowman.
From weary winter to feeling the soft grass under our feet again, summer’s fun then harvest time. So many changes in just one year.
And with three babies in the house how could we possibly count all the wonderful “firsts” we had in 2010?
A first Easter.
In June we had a bountiful harvest of strawberries from our garden and this year Lily was finally big enough to help Mama and Daddy.
Clara celebrated her first birthday on June 16th.
A wedding in Finland this summer.
And Schnitzel on the Mosel River in Deutchland!
We enjoyed a two week visit home to Texas and a second birthday for Lily in July.
In August the Lord gave us our first son.
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” – Robert Louis Stevenson
We had our third wedding anniversary this October.
So many smiles this year, so much joy!
And mischief!
We don’t expect 2011 to be any less full of love, blessings, challenges and changes! Happy New Year.
Eternal God, we commit to Your mercy and forgiveness the year now ending and we commend to Your blessing and love the times yet to come. In the new year, abide among us with Your Holy Spirit that we may always trust in the saving name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
