Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches for dessert or breakfast….!!!
I love this little coloring book I posted about earlier. The girls and I read through it this morning since it tells the story of Jesus’ Nativity from the angel telling Mary that she will conceive through Jesus in the temple as a boy. I decided that Phil will have to run off copies of the pages we want to color instead of letting the girls color in the book. That way we can enjoy it for Christmases to come.
More presents from Texas!
All four candles now lit on our Advent wreath telling us that these four weeks we give to this season of “waiting” is coming to an end. In a few days the waiting will be over as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour. Though, the waiting goes on until He returns for the second time. We don’t need Advent to tell us that.
Our wreath is looking kind of sad now. The greenery is falling all over the place since it gets moved around the table so much. I finally took it all off this afternoon. Some of the needles stuck in the wax, clinging on. It made me think of myself. I love this time of waiting and preparation for Christmas. As the day nears I find I’m a little sad thinking of how quickly it comes and goes. I’m clinging to Advent because I know that Christmas will be here so soon, then Christmas will be over so soon.
I have done pretty well trying to savor the days, I’ve had fun preparing and thinking of the days that will follow the 25th when I plan on continuing the celebration of our Lord’s birth. There’s no good reason for my feeling blue (ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW, on the 22nd! SHEESH!) The wonder of Christ’s nativity, the gift of God becoming a man born of a Virgin isn’t only for December, this time that men decided to celebrate this glorious coming, it is for all times. The preparations, the decorations, the songs, the bustle, the baking, it doesn’t make what Christ came to do for us any more real, special or important. It’s for us and by us. And much of it doesn’t have a lot to do with Christ. Without any of it “Christmas” would still be “Christmas”. Whenever and however it’s celebrated is not important.
Well, that’s enough of that.
