It’s still Christmas so I’m going to write about Christmas ornaments cuz I like them. Here are some of my favorite ornaments.
I have a tradition of collecting ornaments from around the world. Not sure if that’s what you’d call it, but when I travel to a foreign country I try to find an ornament there. Or if I know someone going I drop a HUGE subtle hint that they must might want to find one for me.
In 2002 I traveled to Ireland with my mom, aunt and cousin Wes. Lovely amazing Ireland and I found this harp. My aunty (oh dear or was it you Mama?) got the tree for me. It’s made of greenĀ Connemara marble.
Here are the tiny clogs I bought in The Netherlands in 2000 on a trip with a college friend over Spring Break.
These are from Russia. No, I’ve never been to Russia but my cousin Wes went there and brought these home for me cuz he’s great like that.
Beautiful and I love that she’s holding a matryoshka doll.
Here are my Scandinavian pieces. A Dala Horse I got when Phil and I were in Sweden for a couple days. And, (Kristina you better help me on this one!) I believe the other is the Tomte a gift from the lovely Kristina, also from Sweden.
And last, this little angel playing a squeeze box or at least that’s what I always thought it was. One of many tiny ornaments my Mama got while we lived in Germany.
I love taking these out each Christmas.
Remembering the places I’ve been or the people who thought of me from across the world. They tell stories I can pass along to my babies.
