I took this coloring page out of Lily’s backpack after school today. I was quite surprised to see Alex Trebek then realized who this was supposed to be.
“Oh, look, he’s white” I said.
“No! He’s peach!” Replied Lily.

Lily is still learning how to say words like, “magnet”. It always comes out “maggot”. I love it.
“Mom, Gerhardt’s got a maggot in his mouth!”
“There are maggots under the Christmas tree!”
The other day Clara was eating some roast beef and I couldn’t believe they were calling it “Roast Beast”. Seriously Roast Beast. I didn’t think anyone really said that.

We have been reading about David in our Story Bible this month. Here is a conversation I had with Lily this week.
Me: “David wasn’t afraid of Goliath because Jesus was with him.”
Lily: “But we can’t see Jesus.”
Me: “No, not until we go to heaven.”
Lily: “Can we go to heaven now Mama?”
Me: “No, not until Jesus says we can. When we die we can go to heaven.”
Lily: “But we already died.”
Me: “Hm” (I’m thinking “that’s a little creepy”). “When did we die?”
Lily: “We died on the cross.”
Wow, God’s truth from the mouth of babes.

I love that Lily has gotten so good at talking; to us, to herself, to anyone who will listen, all the time…really, non-stop. The things we hear around our house can be pretty funny. I don’t always remember them, so I thought I’d better write a couple down before I forget those too!
“Crap Cara, Crap!” (Clap, Clara, Clap!)
“And one for the little boy who lives down the drain.” (And one for the little boy who lives down the lane.)
“Row row row your boat gently down the street, mary, mary, mary, mary row your boat down the street.”
