A Bundle of Myrrh

Thank you all for your love and prayers. Phil and I are slowly making our way home and should get back to our babies tomorrow. We hope to enjoy the rest of the time we have this Summer as a family doing some fun Summer things and begin preparing for Baby Girl’s birth. The remaining weeks of pregnancy should just proceed as usual but with extra visits to the Fetal Specialist and OB of course. We also have a team of doctors we will need to start putting together and most importantly need to find a good Pediatric Neurosurgeon in Omaha within the next couple months.

After a grueling couple of days of testing and appointments, we have found out that we are not candidates for fetal surgery. A complicated surgery now would not be as beneficial due to the significant damage already caused by the Spina Bifida, which is not what we wanted to hear. We are relieved to be able to go back to our family and home, but also disappointed that more cannot be done for our daughter at this point in time. We get to return home and prepare for a surgery right after birth and for the care she will require. We are thankful for the expertise and information we have received in Houston.
