38 weeks

The end is in sight! 38 weeks and all is well with baby. He’s head down and ready to go. Of course my waddle is worse and I’m probably worse for the waddle. I’m up every hour at night either with one of the girls or in the WC, leg cramps are back and now I’m having crippling “bladder spasms” most likely caused by caffeine. But our moms are here so dishes and laundry are getting done, meals are getting to the table and even some fun projects are underway! We’re eager to get baby here and making all our preparations has been very exciting.

Next week we’ll go back to our doctor to find out how close we’re getting. Unfortunately (or fortunately my opinion changes every minute) he will be going out of town the weekend after my due date so he’s now talking about induction of labor. Honestly if I make it to my due date I’m okay with that. My other inductions have gone well but perhaps baby will come soon on his own.

Nesting

I was so tired of all the hodge podge of ‘tupperware’ I have. Most of it I hadn’t used in over a year so it had to go. And I hate the way it’s all stacked and falling over in this cabinet so I decided to get rid of the junk and put the rest in the pantry using a basket to store lids. Now snacks and baking supplies have a tidy new home I can get to a lot quicker.

The rest of the pantry will have to wait.

It’s definitely time to get rid of some of the cooking magazines I’ve had sitting around for a few years. I started removing all the recipes I’ll want to keep in a separate notebook once I get one, then I’ll send the magazines on to my neighbor.

All I can say is that if I could bend over, had more energy and didn’t risk going into labor (ok, labor at this point wouldn’t be the worst thing!) I would have one clean and organized house right now!

Nesting is for the birds

I suppose the nesting bug has settled in. I’ve had a real bad case of wanting to reorganize EVERY inch of our house AND bake muffins. I got some of this out of my system yesterday with some pantry and cabinet reordering and making these pumpkin muffins but must have really overdone it.

I was completely worn out by evening and ended up having contractions every 5-10 minutes for about 5 hours then I fell asleep so I lost track of whether or not they continued. These were pretty easy contractions and “regularly irregular” so I wasn’t worried. But today I’m taking it very easy which is crazily harder than I thought!

34 Weeks

We had good news from our doctor today on how baby seems to be doing. He’s very active and has a strong heartbeat. Everything appears to be going well. After 5 weeks of vacation I managed to only gain 7 pounds which is surprising (can you say “schnitzel and pommes frites”!) and good since I hadn’t gained any to date. I’m getting VERY uncomfortable now though. I’m feeling the Braxton Hicks contractions more this time around for sure and running on almost empty everyday now. By the end of the day my stomach is stretched so tight and every muscle hurts. I’d say falling into bed is welcomed relief, but even that hurts. I’m just holding on for 4 more weeks until our mamas get here to relieve me and there will be much more whining in the meantime I’m sure!

We also had Clara’s 1 year well baby check up today. She weighed in at 27 lbs and stretches out at 31 1/2 inches long. “Big baby” is an understatement! Our doctor was glad to see such a healthy baby.
