June 14th I was showered once more with kindness, generosity and of course baby stuff! Some of the ladies at church hosted a baby shower for us. We’re all set now. I can’t think of one more thing we’ll need for this baby. It was also very nice to have Phil’s and my mom there, for the shower and for the aftermath!

The hostesses.

Phil loved this one. It’s a good thing this won’t fit when she’s 12.

Here are Elizabeth, 96 and Gladys, 98. Still getting around.

>All Nighter.

Friday night Phil had an “all nighter” at the church with our Jr. High Catechism students. They have such an amazing ability to consume food and to not need sleep. They played some games and went over to the school to run around in the gym. Then came back to the church to eat more and continue to not require sleep.

Here are some of them not sleeping.

Musical chairs was a lot of fun!

Poor Drake never had a chance.

By 3:30 Phil and I, not being Jr. High kids, were pretty useless just waiting for 7am and a nice soft bed. I only made it until 4. Phil’s the real hero of this story.

He put a movie on and to his surprise the kids became sleepier and sleepier finally drifting off to sleep. Then he made them all get up and clean up their mess.

We finally had a chance to have our first open house. The weather was good and Phil served up his fine home “refreshments”, so we had a very good crowd and a good time.

Here are some of the “refreshments” I contributed. I also made queso and kept making the mistake of calling it “queso”. I got funny looks and was asked, “What’s queso?”. Here it’s known as “cheese dip”. Easy enough I guess.

Vernie had to get in on our photo op. I think he and I look like beautiful angles. I suppose Phil does too, in his own way.

Phil serving his brew.

Here’s Lorenz trying to decide if he wanted “queso” or honey ale.

Madeline and Betty played Rock Paper Scissors for who got the next glass.
