Lily Likes It!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Raisins! She’s actually eating raisins! I’ve tried giving them to her before and she wouldn’t touch them. So this time I got sneaky and dipped them in peanut butter (plus I thought she’d think they were chocolate chips and at least give them a chance) which she liked, but then she just ate them alone and kept asking for more. I’m so glad to find another healthy option for snack time. I’m getting weary of trying to figure out what she’ll eat.

I’m at the point of deciding that she’ll have to eat what we’re having at a meal or she’ll just have to do without. Is that awful? I’m just tired of cooking 2 meals for lunch and 2 for supper, one for her and one for us. And all she eats is spaghetti and mac-n-cheese. Giving her mac-n-cheese all the time is grossing me out. It’s ok now and then, but every other day is not good.

The other night I made something a little spicy for me and Phil’s supper, so I was making chicken and beans for Clara to eat and spaghetti for Lily and thought, this is crazy…I’m making 3 meals! I can’t keep doing that. Especially with another baby in the mix. What if this is another picky one?

If anyone has any thoughts on this topic (what to do with a picky eater) I’d love some ideas. Believe me though, I’ve tried just about everything! Mom, should I just suck it up and resign myself to “pom fritz and peanut butter”? HELP!

Snack Time.

Lily is finally starting to eat a little more variety so snack time is becoming a lot easier. And thanks to divided plates, a lot more fun for me! I challenge myself to see what I can come up with to fill each place and wonder what Lily will actually go for. I like to give her options.

I was so proud of my peanut butter graham crackers with chocolate chips….of course the only thing she ate was the chocolate chips, but it was fun anyway!

Clara is a champ with the sippy cup. She doesn’t loose a drop of whatever’s inside! It took Lily a very long time to keep anything but milk from her bottle in her mouth. The problem is keeping Lily’s cups out of her reach or finding. She’ll down a whole cup of juice before I know it.

>Valentine’s Day.

I celebrated Valentine’s Day by putting a red bow in Lily’s hair and that almost didn’t happen. I had such a busy week getting ready for an open house we hosted on Saturday that by Sunday I was worn out and had no valentines to exchange or mail or even think about. I was too worried about Phil driving to his vacancy church that morning in “white out/blizzard conditions” and whether or not we would be getting to church that day to do anything for my sweeties. Oh well.

But I did make some cute cupcakes for our open house that I topped with cherries in honor of Valentine’s Day. That counts right?

Gingerbread Waffles just sounded good this morning. When it comes to waffles I don’t stray too far from Bisquick, maybe I’ll add blueberries, chocolate chips or banana, vanilla and sugar sometimes, but nothing crazy. I found a recipe for these that turned out to be more complicated and took way longer than I’d really felt up to. Other than the fact that I cooked them too long and Phil doesn’t like gingerbread they turned out… eh, okay. I think I’ll go back to Bisquick next time.

At least someone found a good use for them.
