Learning Basket: Birds

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

I am thrilled to hear the sound of birds in the village again. You don’t realize how much you miss that until it’s gone and you’re not going outside anyway because it’s TOO cold. So, we’re going to have fun with Birds this week.

Activities:

Build a nest using twigs, grass, leaves we find outside and strings and paper we find inside, make paper plate birds, coloring pages, bird watching with our binoculars, toilet paper roll bird, dove handprint

Read:

Are You My Mother?, and maybe actually get to the Library this week for more bird books!

Listen: to our favorite CD

Watch:

Little Bird video and bird picture slide show I made

Learning Basket: Hearts

Tuesday, February 8th, 2011

I’m so glad January is over. February isn’t much better, as far as the weather goes, but at least it brings us Valentine’s Day. Admittedly this hasn’t ever been one of my favorite days but it’s a good excuse to have fun with hearts, candies, crafts and all things red and pink! Such warm colors no?

Reading: A Very Special Valentine and that may be it since it’s -2 today and going to the library with 3 babies doesn’t sound fun.

Watching/Singing: Red heart, Red heart, What do you see? I’m sorry but I LOVE Miss Tracy!

Activities: Heart Valentine coloring pages, tissue paper heart decorating, make heart sugar cookies, wearing heart shirt and sweater, helping Mama make some Valentine’s Day decorations for the house
