Collecting Satisfactions

For some time now I’ve been wanting to jot down some of the things in my daily life that bring me joy or make me smile. I know that everyday there is a something that we can find wonderful but I find that I can get so “down trodden” with the tedium, frustrations and monotony of daily chores and child rearing that I overlook or take for granted these little things that happen that make it all so worth it.

I LOVE this blog I discovered a few weeks ago, and found a section in the author’s archives that was interesting to me called “Collecting Satisfactions”. Read about it here. She started a list of 100 things in her life that bring her joy. While I don’t want a list of 100 things, I did like the idea, so here is my first “satisfaction”.

Tonight my babies snuggled up to me while I sing one of our favorite night time hymns, Now Rest Beneath Nights Shadow. I wished it had been a longer song!

Holding hands, the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen.

Phil and I got a big laugh last night during pajama time. Clara was upset and crying. Phil was rocking her and trying to get her to calm down. We didn’t notice that Lily was gone but she came back into the room carrying Clara’s bottle and a burp cloth holding them out to us to give to Clara. What a sweet little girl and a very good big sister!
