Remembering Advent

December 23, Advent’s last hurrah. The season of Christmas begins tomorrow. We still haven’t had a chance to decorate our tree, I haven’t wrapped a single present and Advent didn’t go at all as I’d planned or hoped, it never does. I’ve had to reevaluate many things this Advent, realize what I need to let go of and what I need to work harder at holding on to. It’s been a struggle. But here we are with a new season on us and the message I need to hear again, today’s Antiphon:
O Emmanuel, king and lawgiver,
desire of the nations, Savior of all people:
Come and set us free, Lord our God.

November 21: An Apple Cider cake for the last Sunday of the Church year. I thought the Nordic Ware Fleur de Lis bundt pan was appropriate for today, tres royal non? Blessed Feast of Christ the King.

November 11: St. Martin’s day is one of our favorite feast days to commemorate. We enjoy horse shoe cookies, a lantern walk and finally gather outside for hot chocolate by the fire.
