March 28: “Make much of something small.” from Bounty by Robyn Sarah
I’m a chronic collector of small moments. Moments someone else might not notice or care about. I have a habit of marking them and making much of them. They’re the memories I dig up when I think back on ‘the days when they were little.’ When these days have a way of only feeling like explosion after explosion of tempers, attitudes, fits, fights and nonstop messes I will need to be reminded that there were small moments like this one when a big kid taught a little kid how to shred cheese and only Mama noticed.

Monday, February 14th, 2022
February 12,13: Saturday started with the usual Chocolate chip pancakes. Then Clara and I spent most of the afternoon making a couple different kinds of chili for church tomorrow. On Super Bowl Sundays our congregation holds it’s annual Chili Cook Off as a fund raiser for our youth. At the last minute I decided to enter two kinds of chili. In a team effort Clara and I cooked up an authentic Texas style chili and a sweet and spicy more traditional chili.

February 5: I’m so proud of this girl! Saturday she performed in the 72nd annual All City Music Festival at the Holland Performing Arts Center downtown. We’ve come here many times before for the symphony and now our baby had the opportunity to play on the same stage! She was pretty nervous to take on something so new and then to perform with all these kiddos in front of so many people!

January 23: Josephine watched me curling Clara’s hair, I asked her if Clara looked like Barbie…
Josephine: No, Barbie has gold hair not brown hair. And she doesn’t wear *those* clothes.
Clara: Jigi! Are you offending my shirt?!
Josephine: No, I’m offending *all* of you.
