Spring beckoned us to the great outdoors. We drove out to the lake for some fishing yesterday.

We didn’t catch anything, but saw lots of ducks.

And these birds. I’m not sure what they were, but at one point they viciously set upon some poor creature in the water. I was just glad it wasn’t me. Too many birds out today for my taste.
They were pretty when they flew off though.

Last weekend we attended the Nebraska District Pastors’ Conference in Norfolk. It was 2 days of intense listening while trying to stay awake. I only lasted 1 day but it was worth it. I missed out on the “seminary experience” most Pastors’ wives have so I figured this would be as close as I could get. Highlights included the delicious food, staying at the Holiday Inn and seeing Randall and Christi Smith our friends from Hampton NE.
I took really bad pictures of our fun, forgive me.

Here’s Phil with Pastor Scheppman who is in our circuit of churches up this way.
Phil stuffing his face. Again, the food was pretty good. Randall is in the background taking his time with his meal.
The evening’s entertainment, the local Lutheran High School choir sang for us while we ate.

Well, we were in Lincoln yesterday mainly to watch the Bancroft High School girls in their first playoff game for the basketball state championship, which they won in a tight race to the finish, a very exciting game, but, we also went by the University of Nebraska campus to walk around. It was a beautiful 45 degrees and sunny, we couldn’t help ourselves! These long winters do something to you. They really make you want to “Live, Love, Learn and Leave a Legacy.”
Here’s the stadium.
Downtown from the Highway. You can see the capitol building.
The Alumni Center.
Here’s Phil with Mr. Warren Buffet. I guess he went to UNL.
And of course….heeeere’s Johnny!
I hate to admit it and again, it’s probably just from being able to be outside for more than 3 minutes for the first time in 3 months, but this campus really is quiet charming!

They even had a pretty silver tree! Is this Narnia?

Fremont

Well, I had to go to make a hospital visit in Fremont, so I took my wife along. It was like a second honeymoon! It was so warm that day. It got up to 42 degrees! Here I am on Main Street.

We saw wedding cakes.

We went to a Keno Club for supper and to watch the Texas-Baylor basketball game. We did not play Keno, we didn’t even know what it was.

I hope you all like my pheasant sweatshirt. It’s my favorite.

Each booth had its very own flat screen television set!

We were very happy Texas won the game and had a lot of fun in Fremont.
The End.
