The Leprechaun Fun Run

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Why do they call it a “Fun Run”? I guess because it rhymes since we all know there just can’t be anything “fun” about running 2.2 miles. I thought it would “fun” to walk that so when Phil suggested we go to a neighboring town and enter the St. Patrick’s Day “Fun Run/Walk” I agreed to it.

So that’s what we did yesterday. In 40 mph winds and 50 degree weather. I did it with Gerhardt strapped to me and Phil (who of course ran the thing) pushed the girls in our stroller (we are all very proud though, he was the first stroller to the finish). So today I’m hurting a little and tomorrow I’m sure I’ll be hurting a little more. And we didn’t even stay for the parade (the real reason I wanted to go!) We couldn’t since we couldn’t figure out how to kill the hour and a half before the parade started with three tired hungry babies, stuck outside, in the cold wind asking to go home so they could watch a show.

Pumpkin Patch

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Finally the girls are getting old enough to have fun at the pumpkin patch near town. The first year Phil and I went Lily was only 2 months old, so she tried, but didn’t get much out of it. They had apple slinging, a tricycle course, a haunted forest, a corn maze, zip lines, go carts, baby roller coasters and a barn dance on the weekend. Very impressive for something a local woman and her family put on by themselves I thought. In another year or two this place is gonna be a blast!

Autumn Leaves

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

After lunch I took the girls out for a walk to find fall “treasures”. We started out at the park but a pug had gotten loose and was “terrorizing” the playground. He was a sweet little puppy but you would have thought a vicious man eating lion was charging by the way the girls reacted when they saw him. So we left and were making our way home when I stopped by to check out my favorite tree in town. I knew most of it’s beautiful leaves would have fallen off by now but when I saw the pile it had left on the ground I knew we had to stop and play. And I had to take a million pictures!

Gottberg Brew Pub

Friday, October 1st, 2010

On Tuesday Phil and I drove to Columbus, NE to check out the Gottberg Brewery. Phil got to know the pub’s brew master at our beer festival this summer and he was invited for a personalized tour and tasting of course (pint size tastings!). I tagged along and endured much nerdy brew talk, but it was worth it (did I mention the pint size tastings?) and a lot of fun. We had supper there at the pub with Jeremy and his wife Sara. Such a fun couple.
