November 20: All dolled up for PT. Thursday was Rose’s first official therapy day with Ms. Drew, our physical therapist. What does PT with a 7 week old look like? Mostly conversations and troubleshooting with the therapist. Just little things for now a lot of what we would do with any newborn. We got some good tips in positioning Rose for strengthening her neck and trunk. She’s been favoring looking to her left side so she showed us ways to keep her from getting too stiff in that position. Really we’re all getting to know each other at this point and creating a relationship between Rose and Ms. Drew that I hope will last a few years.

Urology
Friday, December 3rd, 2021
November 15: We had our first appointment with Urology today. Rose had an ultrasound and a VCUG (Voiding Cystourethrogram how fun is that word?!) It was a bit crazy to see my baby in a vice with her little arms pinned to the side of her head on a board that flips from side to side but we got through it.
We were glad to hear that as of now Rose has normal bladder and kidney function. This is something that could change over time so always needs to be monitored but we’ll continue as we are and go back in 6 months for another study.
A Baptism Celebration
Friday, December 3rd, 2021
November 13: Rose was baptized in the hospital the day she was born but this weekend we were able to celebrate her new life with our friends and congregation. God continues to lavish us with His goodness. We thank Him for all the people He has put into our lives surrounding us with love, prayers, support, laughter and encouragement.
Most especially we thank Him for our dear Rose and the everlasting life she now has in her baptism through Christ’s death and resurrection. What a miracle.
Six Weeks Old
Friday, December 3rd, 2021
November 10: Rose is 6 weeks old today! 6 weeks just feels like one of those milestone weeks. We’ve been home from the NICU for 3 weeks now and I still haven’t gotten anything figured out. I have no idea how to do life right now.
None of my go to tricks are “allowed” this time around until she can support her head better, no car seat, no bouncer, no swing and worst of all the baby carrier I’ve used for years to wear babies while I get work done isn’t working for Rose yet. She’s not figured out how to nap well unless I’m holding her BUT she’s sleeping at night! Silver linings.
She’s starting to smile for reals and trying really hard to talk to Mama… heart melt. Happy 6 weeks baby.
