28 Weeks

Thursday, July 22nd, 2021

28 weeks. Welcome to the jungle, I mean the 3rd Trimester. Martha said she’s “popping a baby out” like me. Misery does love company, thanks Martha! 😄

I finally feel like I have a better picture of what we need to have ready for our baby’s birth and what can wait and finally we have an idea of the plan we need to put together for the week she’ll arrive. If she stays put, it looks like we’ll actually plan to let her get closer to her due date than I originally expected which puts us into October. All that feels really good. Now we wrap up the Summer activities, the travel and visitors and prep for school to begin in a few weeks. Then I can turn my attention to nursery prep and all the fun stuff that comes with getting ready for a baby. It helps immensely that I’m already exhausted and am sure I’m walking through quicksand all day long. 👍

27 Weeks

Baby is 27 weeks now. Look at that little face!

For the next 12 weeks we are just tracking her growth, which appears to be appropriate for her age at this point. We also are keeping track of the fluid accumulation on her brain (hydrocephalus.) As of last week it looks to be about the same as it was at 23 weeks which is good to hear. Other good news is I don’t have to worry about Gestational Diabetes having passed that test, I’m glad to scratch that concern off my list at least.

Thank you all again for your ongoing prayers.

Testing Day – 1

Thursday, June 24th, 2021

You never know what you’re capable of until you spend and hour and a half of your life pregnant inside an MRI scanner. Oy! The tech had to chase baby “all around the swimming pool” as he put it. But thankfully that went well and thankfully that is over. Hopefully we will have results on those scans today. Today we have an ultrasound, meet with a neonatologist and a neurosurgeon. Thank you all again for the ongoing thoughts and prayers!

In Houston

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021

We got off to a rocky start but we finally made it to Houston. Yesterday, a few minutes before we were to leave for the airport we were notified that our flight had been cancelled. 😳So a little after 11am we threw our suitcases in our car and set off for Texas. We broke up the 14 hour drive and stopped outside of Dallas last night. We are relieved to be here today, one day early instead of two but very thankful we at least planned the extra day so this wasn’t a complete disaster.

I will check in at the hospital tomorrow morning at 7:30 for an MRI, day 1 of testing and evaluations.
