Today is Lily’s second birthday! She’s now officially two years old, “I two!” she says. We’re certainly entering a new realm of childhood with her and it’s a joy (most of the time) to see. I knew I wouldn’t be up to having a big birthday bash but I wanted to do a little something to make the day special. All I planned was cupcakes with neighbors and even that ended up almost being too much for me to handle! But we pulled it off and had a very nice party.

Happy Birthday Clara!
Friday, June 11th, 2010
I know, Clara’s birthday isn’t until next Wednesday the 16th (trust me, I remember that day) but since that’s the day Phil and I will be landing in Helsinki FINLAND we won’t be here to celebrate with our big one year old. Don’t think about that too long because it will make you sad, but remind yourself that Clara has no idea what June 16th even means and she’ll be having way more fun with her Grandparents and cousins to even care that it’s her first birthday. She’ll just have to wait for birthday cake until Mama and Daddy get home.
Anyway, I took her 12 month portrait a little early since I don’t think she’ll change too much before the big day. She certainly has changed so much over the last few weeks. We don’t see her crawling anymore now that she’s a big walker and those 4 teeth up top have done away with her little baby look! She can say “hi” and “bye-bye” and copies everything Lily does. This next year is gonna be FUN! We love you Clara!

A round cake I made all by myself (don’t look to closely)! Chocolate Chip, Phil’s favorite. It was almost a disaster. Both pieces cracked and the icing got ‘crumby’ because I was in a hurry to get it done by lunch time, but it tasted delicious! I’m thankful for a husband that is very easy to please when it comes to cake.
We had to wear our party hats.
By “we” I mean everyone but Lily.
Lily was much happier when it was finally time to eat our cake.
Birthday Party!

The Munderlohs, Leanna and Vernon and granddaughter Makala came over to celebrate with us.
Sara helped me decorate the chocolate chip cupcake cake!
Lily was more interested in trying to figure out why everyone was looking at her and singing than in the deliciousness in front of her.
She never got much further than just holding it.
She gave it a little taste but was still trying to figure out what was going on and what was on everyone’s heads.
Especially what was going on with daddy.
We all played pin the stem on the flower!
Birthday #1 was a blast. Can’t wait till next year!
