Halloween Cometh!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Well, October is coming and with it one of my favorite ‘holidays’, Halloween! Which means time to be cute and creative and come up with something adorable to dress my girls up in. Last year was a chance stroke of brilliance but what to do this year? I wanted to dress Lily as an Elephant since that has been the first animal sound she could make and she thinks all animals are Elephants until recently they are becoming Horses, but I’m not sure how I’d pull off making ears and with my limited amount of time to devote to it I don’t want to do a lame-o job. So an Elephant might be out, same thing with the Monkey idea I had for Clara. So perhaps Pooh and Piglet? That might be easiest though I’ll still have to get pretty creative and do some shopping. I’ll have to go through their clothes this week and see if anything jumps out at me like last year.

Ideas:
Pooh and Piglet
Chicken and an Egg
Rag dolls
Hobos
Farmer and a Cow

**Update** I’ve found the greatest costume and idea for the girls. Bring it on Halloween!

Easter morning was a pretty busy for us. We had a service at 6:30 am. Lily and I were not too happy about that, but we made it. Our choir made its big debut in both of our morning services! Phil preached here then went out to St. John’s to preach there and then rushed back for our second service at 10:30. He was a very tired pastor after all of that! Weslie and Kristina went to church there with Phil to meet that congregation since they have been supporting Weslie in Seminary.

We also had confirmation this morning!

Easter baskets for everyone.

For Easter dinner I made roast with potatoes and carrots! It was very very good.

Lily explores her Easter basket. Phil and I explored her chocolate bunny!

Phil cooked for us Sunday night. It was “Build Your Own Nachos” night!

I’ll let Phil explain this picture when he gets a chance. I know you can’t wait, so stay tuned!

It was soooo good to have Mama, Aunty Sylvia, Sara and Elle visit Bancroft for a whole week! Lily had so much fun with her cousins, Grandmere and grrreat aunt.
Elle and Sara were delighted to see snow in Bancroft again. Here’s Elle conquering what’s left of “Mt. Hale”.
We had a birthday party for the girls on Monday. The gifts I shipped to Texas in January were returned to me (it seems the Post Office likes correct zip codes) so I was glad to keep them and be able to see them open them in person!
We made chocolate chip cupcakes!

Elle has begun to spread her wings in the kitchen. She does come from a long line of super cooks (no, her aunt Aubri is not included in that line)!
Here’s the apron I made for Elle.
Lily loved playing with her great aunt Fafa!
Phil took advantage of having Elle around. She makes a really comfy chair.
And she’s good at gathering rocks out of snow piles.
For St. Patrick’s Day we made shamrock pins.

And we ate shamrock cookies!
One of the finished pins. They were all really cute, I just forgot to get a picture.
My girls in their festive shirts.
We all wore our green.
We went down to Omaha for a while on Tuesday. Look how much fun we had at Borders drinking coffee!

On Thursday we made Stepping Stones. They turned out very nice.

Thanks for coming all the way to Nebraska ladies! I really enjoyed y’all being here. Come back again soon! Here are some more pictures of our week:
