October 30: Another HallOWeen for the books. 🎃 For costumes this year the kids scrounged through our dress up clothes, old Halloween costumes or designed their own from items at home. With the Pandemic I just didn’t know how Trick Or Treating was going to go this year and Phil would be preaching on Halloween night so wouldn’t be able to help take the kids around anyway.
With all that, I was not going to spend a lot of time and money in costumes. But I was so proud of what the babies came up with. I helped by adding a few little accessories. It was fun!

July 4: If anything brought out my inner patriot it’s been the past month of turmoil this country has seen. The month of June was so full of shock after shock, nothing seemed surprising anymore…then something would surprise me.
I never really made a huge deal of Independence Day, of course we celebrate it and honor those who have made this possible throughout our history but this year it was so different. I would be intentional and take care to impress upon the babies just how special our country is. I used the whole month of June to read snipits of American history and living history books to them. We memorized a bit of the Declaration of Independence and learned more about our national anthem. And all of this I will continue to put before them because I see how necessary it has become in our day.
I wondered what to expect of the 4th this year with COVID and all the upheaval, how many would be out celebrating the day. I was happily surprised and relieved to see what might have been the most fireworks we’ve ever witnessed living here. It cheered me greatly, it made me proud to see. As Americans we truly do have so much to celebrate or at least to be very thankful for.Â

May 10: Several times lately I’ve looked at Phil and said, “We have TEN kids.” I really still can’t wrap my head around that. And at the same time, it’s just normal to me. I don’t really think about that….until I do. Our kids are just our kids, our family is our family, sure there are tons of adjustments and ways we have to live differently than the average American family, but it’s just our life. Then it hits me, we have 10 kids!! I’m a mother of ten. Yes, it’s overwhelming at times but I am blessed beyond what I deserve. I will speak that truth even when I don’t feel it. God is good. I love you babies!
