First Annual Turkey Opera

Nov 28: I’m not sure if they were blowing bubbles into their milk or gargling at the kitchen table whilest I changed Abel’s diaper in the nursery, but listening to them on Thanksgiving morning made me think of a bunch of turkeys. I was suddenly inspired. I gave the babies the idea of holding an opera, a Turkey Opera. They went with it. You’re welcome Phil.

Our Thanksgiving

Many moons ago my sweet Mama gave these figures to me. Mrs. Pilgrim was beheaded at some point but thankfully glued back to life. I took them out of their box yesterday and for the first time their expressions struck me not as “Oh great, it’s Thanksgiving again” but more as a good confession of Thankfulness in the aftermath and midst of true suffering. Weary but content. In a world with so much suffering we can still “give thanks to the Lord for He is good.”
