A Bundle of Myrrh

Back to School?

September 11th, 2020 by Aubri

August 18: Our school year begins. We have 7 kiddos in school this year. Our district decided last minute that all students will remain at home doing remote learning full time instead of a couple days a week, at least through October. This weirdy weird hybrid of “school at home,” not school and not homeschool is a hard spot to be in. While I’m actually very glad to have the kids home full time it’s not the exact way I’d prefer to have them home full time. My heart is not in this but I’m determined to have a good attitude about it. We have no idea how this is going to work, it does seem like a looming train wreck but I’m really going to give a good try.

Deciding where to put everyone for their Distance Learning was a bit of a challenge. This Summer we converted our guest room into an Arts and Crafts space. This will work well for a few of the kids. Some will use our kitchen table and some their bedrooms. Thankfully a hall closet works for holding school supplies and text books. Today it all begins! Many prayers for all of you in these uncharted waters.

As out of the ordinary as this day is I still have to keep some of our traditions. A Schultüte (“school cone”) for sweet Martha filled with school supplies and some other goodies.

Happy First Day of School to our 7th, 6th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st and Kindergartener!

OH, my sweet Martha! How can you go to school? Your smile and joy for life will bring so much fun to your school days.

May God grant all of you the strength and perseverance you’ll need to school at home.
