The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord – February 2

Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord which occurs forty days after the birth of Jesus. This year the feast felt a bit more poignant for me with a newborn
40 days after the time of year we lost our Ebenezer. And also because the next day we would swaddle our new baby and bring him to church to be baptized into Christ.

On this feast day I was just very thankful…and felt like making (well, eating) crepes.

Crepes are traditionally eaten on Candlemas and Shrove Tuesday “to celebrate renewal, family life, and hopes for good fortune and happiness in the future.” That is not why we make them.

I rather prefer the idea of how much, “crepes look like a swaddled baby” and visually remind us of when she and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple, as the author of THIS post and this crepe recipe noted.

Anyway, this is how we celebrated The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.
