This Summer our reading kids set goals for how many books they would read. The deal was if they read them all they got an Ice Cream Date with Mama. I know, I was willing to make that difficult sacrifice.
I should have known better, but I didn’t want to set an impossible goal for Lily. I wanted to make sure we would have a lot of free time or time to drop everything and go to the zoo. Lily’s “challenge” was to read 8 chapter books or novels. Well, she took care of that goal the first week of Summer break so finally a few weeks ago I was able to take her out.
But she didn’t stop reading. I lost count after a while, but I’d say she polished off at least 22 books….and the Summer ain’t over. The other 2 have made their goals as well so after our vacations I will be forced to take them out for ice cream as well. Darn it.
